Crowe, Boards Advance to Finals During Day Two to Represent Women's Track & Field in Running Events
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Outdoor Track & Field team competed in day two of the Mountain East Conference Championships on Monday.
Sophomore Isabella Mastria shined in the long jump during the field events portion, taking second with a leap of 5.70m, while fellow sophomore Lucy Crowe slid into a top-10 spot in the event and in program history with a jump of 5.33m for ninth place. Freshman Reghan Sivic showed a 2.60m in the pole vault to lock in eighth place, while fellow freshman Syndey Johnson threw 10.75m in the shot put for 13th place.
Crowe qualified for the 400m finals, running a 58.54 in the prelims, while junior Valerie Boards sprinted a 12.35 in the 100m prelims to move her on to the finals as well. Sophomore Hannah Schauman clocked an 11:52.26 in the 3000m steeplechase, carrying her to a sixth place finish and a top-three time in program history. Mastria put up solid times in the 100m (12.38) and 100m hurdles (15.73) for ninth place finishes in both but was one place short of qualifying for finals.
Frostburg pushes their way into day three of the championships tomorrow, April 29, currently sitting in ninth place. The field events are set to start at 11 AM with running events scheduled to begin at noon. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
